[English] South Korean pianist, composer and educator Jaehun Kang is the Jury Prize winner of the 2010 Jarasum International Jazz Competition and a semi-finalist for the 2016 Parmigiani Montreux Jazz Solo Piano Competition. He has performed at the Blue Note Jazz Club, Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, EFG London Jazz Festival, Jarasum International Jazz Festival, Daegu International Jazz Festival, Seoul Art Center, Sejong Art Center, etc. Jaehun holds the Masters of Music from the Juilliard School, where he studied with Wynton Marsalis, Frank Kimbrough, Kenny Barron and Rodney Jones. He shared stages & recorded with jazz legends such as Jimmy Heath, George Garzone, Donny McCaslin, and Don Faddis, to name a few. He is actively performing in South Korea, not only performing as a member of various groups (Woongsan, Juhwan Kim Group, Soojin Suh Coloris Trio, Sangmin Lee Group, Jongkuk Kim Quartet, Seonghwa Kim Group, etc.) but also leading his own group, Jaehun Kang Trio. Currently He is teaching piano as piano instructor at Hanyang University and preparing his 1st leader album.
[Korean] 정통성과 독창성. 두 마리 토끼를 다 잡고자 하는 피아니스트 강재훈은 19살 때 자라섬국제재즈페스티벌에서 심사위원상을 수상하였다. 이후 서울예술대학교 실용음악과에 수석 입학하여 재학 중 도미, 재즈 및 대중음악 종합학교로 잘 알려진 Berklee College of Music에서 학사를 마치고, 한국인 최초로 The Juilliard School의 재즈 프로그램에 장학생으로 선발되었다. 유학시절 Wynton Marsalis, Danilo Perez, Frank Kimbrough의 사사를 받고, 보스턴과 뉴욕 등지의 Blue Note, Dizzy’s Club, Shapeshifter Lab, Lilypad, Cafe 939 등의 무대에서 활동하고, Jimmy Heath, George Garzone, Donny McCaslin 등의 연주자와 협연 및 녹음 활동을 하였다. 귀국 후 웅산 밴드, 서수진 컬러리스 트리오, 김주환 그룹, 김성화 그룹, 전송이 트리오, 이수정&강재훈, 노름마치, 앙상블 카두시우스 등 다양한 구성의 그룹들에 소속되어 활발한 연주 및 음반 활동을 펼치고 있으며, 자라섬국제재즈페스티벌, 서울재즈페스타, 별마당 도서관, 서울재즈올스타 등 다양한 페스티벌 및 무대에서 리더로서도 꾸준히 활동중에 있다. 현재 자신의 리더작을 준비중에 있다.
